This wonderful souvenir card from 1893 shows Hanford Warner with Hiram and Barney Davis, brothers who reached a height of only three and a half feet at their maturity. While Hiram and Barney were born in England and Long, Island, New York respectively, they were purchased from their widowed mother by showman Lyman Warner and toured with P.T. Barnum and other shows under the billing "Wild Men of Borneo". The diminutive size of the brothers permitted their complete reinvention as indigenous anomalies. While the stage act could have transformed the brothers into child-like and genderless primitives, it stopped short of that, instead posing the brothers as fully developed male tribesmen named Waino and Plutano.
